Under COSHH Regulations 2002 and ACOP L8, employers have legal duty to prepare and manage a scheme for maintaining safe water quality. Para 12 of ACOP L8 states: 'As well as requiring risk assessments, they (Health &Safety at Work Act 1974 & Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999) also require employers to have access to competent help in applying the provisions of health and safety law'. Other legal statutes regarding water storage and supply include The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and The Water Byelaws 2000 (Scotland).
